I also love hoarding beads, but over the past several months, I have been taking tiny steps to lighten my load of beading materials, and upcycle portions of my bead stash. The hardest part has been letting go of the really unique pieces that I have collected over the years - beads that I love but no longer use because of how they are made.
This month, I thought it would be fun to put together a really special palette of different beads that might make a great project all on their own. All you need to do is add thread or wire to make something really beautiful. Now that spring is really here, and Mother’s Day is just around the corner, I was inspired to create a pretty pink palette from my stash of terrific taboo beads.
There’s a lot of pink going on here, and while I’m sure these beads would make a great project all by themselves, they need a little dash of something. Perhaps peridot or a bit of dandelion yellow.

I love giveaways! I think pink goes with anything! You could pair it with red which used to be a real no-no but I love it. Red makes pink pop and pink softens red. Teal looks great w/ pink for the same reason. And copper? Yummy! Part of it depends on the pink itself, I think. But the pink and peridot or lime is a sure thing no matter what color the pink is! I sure hope I get a chance to try! Thanks for doing this!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the way the chips, bugles, & MOP flower look in your photo. I think I would choose a pale green and keep it springy... It wouldn't necessarily "pop" but I think the pastels would look lovely in a piece that sticks with a more muted palette.

I've already got some bicones in peridot in my own stash... ooh, and some light green, perfectly non-perfect baroque pearls that I've also been saving for a spring project! -- both of which have been waiting for a bit. I have a few jonquil crystals as well but I think that would really be *too* pale. *Now* I'm excited and my green beads might not last until the giveaway is over!!]

ReplyDeleteI love seed beads, and sometimes just choose a color and begin working with it. Usually I have no Idea what it will create, I simply let the color(s) "speak" to me, adding and stitching along.
Yes, there have train wrecks along the way, but more often then not, I'm inspired to use my experimental weaving/stringing starts into full featured pieces. Bangles, bracelets, necklaces and free-form pieces have started out in this way -- resulting in surprisingly beautiful combinations and forms.
Silver/grey! In fact I use pink and silver/grey many, many times. I think it is a very nice colorcombination.

ReplyDeleteI would love for you to pick my color palettes all the time. I have to say I might just pair them with a gorgeous persimmon, rose/gold, or honestly it may sound strange but a taupe/brown would be outstanding oh no wait a creamy chocolate would be the bomb! Oh now I am thinking!

ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely shade of pink. Pink is one of my favorite colors, and I'd choose a color like Swarovski's Erinite, a shade that incorporates both blue and green. So, depending on the outfit you chose to wear the jewelry piece with (blue or green), it would take on that color tone, making it a more versatile piece of jewelry to have and bringing a beautiful splash of color with it.

I am going to say that a tangerine color would make the pink pop and be something to wear in the summer. It just reminds me of the weather here in Florida, warm and beautiful.

ReplyDeleteOoh, love the pink! I would put a turquoise with it for sure! Accented with greens and browns, the pink would pop out, being the "odd one out" so to speak. I would love to own these great pinks!
