Wear It Twice: Butternut Caramel

Pantone Fall 2011 Fashion Colors by Lela Rose, Elie Tahari and Rebecca Minkoff

Last month we had some fun with the brighter, spunkier colors in Pantone’s Fall 2011 lineup. Today, I wanted to really dive into fall looks with some warmer, more subtle colors. Some of my favorites from the list are bamboo, coffee liqueur, and nougat. They’re soft and sophisticated, and the perfect colors to combine with sweaters, skirts and warm fuzzy tights. Unfortunately, it's not quite scarf and cocoa weather yet, so I tried to capture that mood in pieces that are still breezy enough for summer's last hurrah.

I started with a bold resin necklace in yellow and black. The tribal vibe adds a little extra personality to the simple palette, and the chunky design is great for pairing with a variety of different tops and looks. These picks were all inspired by fall essentials, like spices, leaves and warm drinks, but in lightweight fabrics and breezy cuts.

Finding these looks in handmade and vintage was a bit of a challenge, but I was able to collect a few pieces with the same chic quality and rich colors.
