I recently received an adorable packet of broom beads as a freebie in my last bead order. I can’t resist a surprise bag of beads, even if there’s a chance that I won’t be able to use what’s in it. The unusual mixture that I found was actually really fun, with lots of colors and shapes to choose from, and plenty of multiples to make a successful project or two. Although I can tell right away that most of the pieces are glass, a few are a mystery.
It could take me more than a year to find the right projects for most of these beads, so instead I’m going to pass them on to a beader who wants to tackle them. To sweeten the pot, I’m also including a few grams of 11/o Delicas in matte transparent gray and silver-lined ruby.

I recently learn how to stitch seed beads around a cabochon so I would make cabochons and string them on a necklace. Thank you for the chance
ReplyDeleteThey remind me of sea glass, so I'd probably break out my wire and make a tiara for my little sister with a bit of gold wire.... or even just just some of my gunmetal metallic seed beads and make her a crazy, net necklace with the beads as size increasing dangly bits necklace. I don't know, that collection just screams wacky.
ReplyDeleteThe Broom bead mix and the delicas seem an interesting offering . Loved the shapes and colors . I think I would go in for a freeform piece or since I am into metals right now , a metal and beads would be a lovely showcase for these beads :)

ReplyDeleteI always love the idea for free beads LOL I love the reds in these and I am wanting to make another long necklace, I dont always have the patience to make necklaces, It took all the restraint I had to make the 5 I do have lol. I am too impatient I wanna wear it NOW! But I am wanting to make more necklaces, like the stringing-type ones. love to have a bead spread out here and there and have a thin line of peyote or RAW in between. But I kinda would want it to be something that I could also make long enough that I could wrap it around my wrist a few times. Thanks for having this drawing, that is sweet of you.
ReplyDeleteI would make bracelets! Perhaps 5 or 6, all containing some of the broom beads and Delicas, and then layer them for a funky look!

Thanks for hosting a giveaway. I would use the beads to make a long necklace. The variety of colors would make it great for travel.

I would use the seeds for Ohio State Earrings and Bracelets; the rest would be good in bracelets ,I think.

ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! I have been working with some brick stitch lately so I think I may like to use some in a sort of freeform bracelet or two. I have also been trying to learn to bezel so I would definitely do that with the flat red beads, if they're large enough, adding some silver delicas to the *free* ones! :) It's been a little rough sifting through all the tutorials for a good bezel video or schema but I have a few to work with. I'd make a freeform bracelet using the seed beads as a netted base and embellishing with ALL of the other beads on the top as well as some beads from my own stash. SUCH FUN to be had!

ReplyDeleteI have been making bracelets showcasing mixes of beads in different color palettes. What started as a stash-buster has turned into a passion. I love mixed beads now, especially because they offer a challenge in balancing sizes and shapes.
ReplyDeleteThese broom beads look delightful! I would make some matching asymmetrical bracelets and earrings - by using some of the beads that have doubles. For example, one bracelet might have one each of the black and red beads, and one earring would have one of the red beads, and the other would have one of the black beads. It sounds crazy, not having the same copy of the earring for both ears, but crazy is good, right? :D
