Happy New Year, beaders! It is my great pleasure to announce that I’m ready to get back to my normal routines, and what better way to kick off a new year on Inspirational Beading than with a giveaway? I still have some lovely goodies from my last surprise grab bag, and I need to send them to a good home.
This month’s prize pack includes 2 strands of semi-precious stones and a pair of cute rhinestone charms. There are 4mm pink zebra jasper rounds and 6mm multicolored magnesite/howlite rounds, plus elephant and dragonfly bracelet charms. These pieces are all much too pretty to languish in my bead stash!

I haven't graduated past peyote stitch in my bead weaving yet, but I have done a lot of hand knotting with round beads in the past. I really like the classic look of hand knotted pearls but with more colourful beads.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite for round beads is RAW (right angle weave, for any newbies). It's a fun stitch to make nice big cuff bracelets...I use 4mm usually for that..add in alternating seed beads for a fancier style, and bead away...lots of fun :) bohemianice@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI love your blog. Have gotten so many ideas. I just started beading in August and love it. Learned some peyote (had to do freeform!), herringbone, ladder/square, chevron. Am just adding fringe to a herringbone bracelet. Have done some netting. Need to learn st. petersburg stitch. I would like to learn more how to do freeform netting. Love the openness but guess I need more practice on the netting. I want to learn how to make circular buttons like you do on your closures. They are adorable. I appreciate all the work you do on this site. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine! You can find a basic tutorial for circular brick stitch under the Beading Tutorials tab at the top of the page. I also have a PDF available for a full button tutorial here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/sagescupboard?section_id=7382948
DeleteI have not gotten a favorite thing I like to do with round beads yet. I just like beads!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite stitch depends on my current project (today it is Herringbone (ndebele) ;) -- I love the one I'm using now!! I'm just a bead-a-holic ... love it all LOL.

I discovered chenille stitch quite by accident several months ago and have made and donated many bangle bracelets. It's easy and a fast beading project. Check it out on the web. megmoyle@att.net
ReplyDeleteI love to use round beads knotted on Irish Waxed Linen along with a pretty focal.
ReplyDeleteI have just started beading and am very addicted. I just started making wrap bracelets with round beads. I can't wait to learn more! I love your blog - thank you!

Love those beads, herringbone and peyote stich are my favorite. andree.caron@yahoo.ca
ReplyDeleteWith 6mm I like just good old stringing but 4mm I would use with my favorite stitches Brick and Peyote.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of peyote as I just love the feeling of zipping things up, but when I saw those semi precious rounds I immediately thought how neat they would look if used in a crazy peyote pendant with some micro macramé worked in.
