A Bracelet a Week: Tasty Trios

This week I have not one but four pretty bracelets to share, each with a three-color palette. I might have made even more of these, but I had to stop somewhere, and eventually a necklace idea started calling to me.

It all started when I found a little nod to my St. Petersburg chain tutorial on MadDesigns by Marcie DeCoster. After I got over the excitement of such a great compliment, I realized that way back when I was first planning my Bracelet a Week challenge, I jotted down an idea to make a simple double St. Petersburg bracelet.

I’m not sure why this project kept getting skipped over, apart from nearly two months’ worth of must-make Egyptian ideas that I had to work through. When I had a look at my bracelet idea list again, I found double St. Petersburg nearly obscured between crossed out brick stitch medallions and ladder stitched peyote tubes. I seem to recall that I thought it was ‘too simple’, even though I’ve done a few multi-bracelet posts before.

Once I started thinking about it, I realized that it would be a bit refreshing to do some really basic bracelets, and it never hurts to have a few door crashers handy. So I pulled some beads and got stitching. Once I started, it was hard to stop!

I have quite a few nearly finished packets of 8/o seed beads in my stash, and these bracelets provided a great opportunity to use some of them up. I combined each color with two others that have a fruity appeal – plus one Egyptian palette for good measure.

First I made a citrus trio with, lemon, orange and dark, lime-peel green. To go with yellow 8/o beads, I picked raspberry pink, then added pale, peachy orange to make a Tutti-frutti palette. Vibrant papaya orange is exotic and tasty with plum and fig (rootbeer brown). Finally, matte black with topaz and aqua looks great in Egyptian stripes.

I still have lots of 8/o stragglers, so I may have to make another batch of these sooner or later!
