Bead Giveaway: Savannah Collection

Savannah Bead Set Giveaway

My beading challenge for 2012 - to destash some long hoarded beads - has two benefits. Not only will I finally have to find the inspiration to use beads that I’ve been overlooking for a long time, but I’ll also have a lot more space for those beads that I want to use again and again. Plus, I’m hoping to relocate my home and studio later this year, and fewer beads means fewer boxes to pack and carry.

To help get both of these goals underway, I have decided it’s finally time to share my favorite acrylic beads. I can’t explain what has made me hold on to them for so long, even though I have given up using plastics in my designs. Only a fellow bead hoarder could possibly understand. And now I hope to find these little treasures a new home with someone who can appreciate how fantastic they are!

To get things started with a bang, I’m going to be giving away one of my all time favorite sets of beads. These pieces have been collected from a variety of sources, but they all have one thing in common - they have a distinct tribal flair. There are a few animal print pieces, some imitation bone, some long tubes with a wood-like finish, and three gorgeous tribal design buttons in bone and amber colors. Together or separate, these beads have a lot of potential!

  8. Love these! Reminds me of African wildlife -- the stripes of Zebra and spots of leopards. :-)

My favorite cultural influence for beading inspiration would have to be Africa because of the amazing use of color and materials from bone to copper to colorful glass beads.

  10. That collection is awesome. I love the prints. I'm not sure about my favorite cultural influences. I'm mostly a seed beader. The stitches originated all over the world. I do love African metal beads, though.

  13. At present I don't have a cultral preference, but colours influence me a great deal to do something with them in the form o a jewelry piece. The African colours are stunning, as well as the ocean colours, and the fall and spring colours of nature.

  15. Just a further comment and suggestion....PLEASE get rid of the word verification requirement. It is such an unnecessary nuisance especially when it has to be typed more than once because of difficulty reading the letters.

  16. My influence ? The good ole fashioned American dollar store ! Everything for a buck ! I walk the store and colors pop out everywhere. The gift wrapping paper aisle give me the most quirky combos. Love, Peace and Beading. If I am the lucky winner, you may reach me at: shangrila333@hotmail.com

  17. I'm really loving everyone's ideas and influences so far!

Also, thank you for the suggestion, Helen! Unfortunately, with word verification off, dozens of spam comments get through daily, and I just don't have the extra time to screen and delete them all. This is the only way to make sure that real readers can comment from anywhere without signing up for anything.

  18. I'm inspired by popular culture -- books, television, film, graphic novels -- and the things I work with -- the glass, the chain. I'm already thinking your destash would be great with my black leather cuffs ;-)
